A two-day meeting began this morning in Lisbon. The initiative is from the Carlos Albertino Veiga Foundation.

Paulo Veiga, President of the Carlos Albertino Veiga Foundation, organizer of this initiative, in partnership with the Portuguese Navy and the Proteus Ocean Group of the USA, stressed that the idea of the Ocean Summit "is to start and launch" the race to the Ocean.

One of the most notable figures at the Ocean Summit 2024 is aquanaut Fabien Cousteau, grandson of the legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, who founded the Proteus Ocean Group. During Ocean Summit, Fabien will share his vision on the crucial role of the oceans for planetary sustainability.

The Foundation reports that over one hundred people attended the opening of the Ocean Summit, which also included the presence of the Minister of the Sea, Jorge Santos.

The Ocean Summit is taking place at the Portuguese Maritime Museum Planetarium, bringing together renowned experts from four continents, and the initiative promises to drive new discoveries about the oceans and create unprecedented opportunities for knowledge sharing and innovation.
