The Ocean Summit 2025 has arrived, and this year it's integrated into Cape Verde's Ocean Week. It will be more than just a meeting; it will be a milestone in establishing the country as an ocean nation and a point of convergence between science, innovation, and citizenship. This edition, taking place at the Ocean Science Center of Mindelo, will showcase key projects for Cape Verde's blue future: the "Diving Bell," the "Ocean Observatory," "Drones for the Ocean," and the "Carlos Albertino Veiga Foundation Hub." These initiatives combine technology, knowledge, and environmental commitment.
The event will also include the signing of new international protocols by the Foundation, such as the one established with Island Innovation, strengthening the global network of partners dedicated to sustainability and ocean literacy.
In the panel discussions, national and international figures will discuss topics such as "Ocean Literacy and Knowledge Gaps" and "Ocean Literacy: A Tool for Citizenship and Diplomacy," addressing the challenges of a sustainable and shared future.
Among the keynote speakers are Dr. José Gonçalves (Former Minister of Maritime Economy of Cape Verde), Eng. Salvador Malheiro (Secretary of State for the Sea of Portugal) and Dr. Luís Rebelo de Sousa (Director of PwC). The official speeches will be given by the Minister of the Sea of Cape Verde, Eng. Jorge Santos, the Ambassador of the Foundation, Lili Caneças, and the President of the Carlos Albertino Veiga Foundation, Dr. Paulo Veiga.
More than just an event, the Ocean Summit is Cape Verde's commitment to the future of the planet, a call to action and unity around our greatest common heritage: the Ocean.
On November 7th, at the Ocean Science Center of Mindelo, join us to build the blue future of Cape Verde.
